SAN ANGELO Beverly, a warrior against cancer, chose to lay down her armor against an unworthy opponent to pursue a celebration of her life. She and her beloved companion, Jerry Osburn, traveled to Yosemite National Park in early August for a "preview" of the beauty and majesty she would enjoy tenfold when she arrived in the Promised Land. She spent the rest of her days visiting with the family and friends and making arrangements that would comfort and benefit her loved ones who would not be traveling with her. Beverly was born on Octt. 23, 1953, at Langley AFB in Virginia, to Lillian and Thomas Roper. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her brother, Randy Roper, of San Angelo, nieces Amanda and Sarah of San Angelo; Jerry Osburn of San Angelo her canine companion, Bear; and many loving relatives and long-time friends. Beverly graduated from CHS in 1972, ASU in 1976 and Southwest Texas State in San Marcos in 1979. A student of history and politics, she pursued a career in the law as a paralegal in Midland and Dallas, Texas before returning to San Angelo after her mother's death. She was honored to serve her country as Deputy in Charge for the US District Courts, San Angelo Division. She was a board member of the Concho Valley Credit Union. Beverly was a drama student at both CHS and ASU. Her love of theater extended to film and film history. She was a patron of Southwest artists and spent vacations in New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming and Montana. Her travels also took her to Europe and Mexico. Her love of the magnificent western vistas of America is apparent in her choice of artwork and reading materials. She was also a GREAT dancer. Beverly Roper ? Tiny, but MIGHTY. Beverly wanted to thank her doctor, David Cummings and the oncology staff at Shannon Hospital and her Hospice of San Angelo caregivers.
